Academic Staff Transparency

The Institute is committed to ensuring that all teaching and learning activities are delivered by appropriately qualified and experienced academic staff, in accordance with the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021. Academic staff are appointed based on their academic qualifications, professional experience, and capacity to contribute to high-quality teaching, learning, and scholarship. Staff are expected to maintain current disciplinary knowledge and engage in ongoing professional development to support effective teaching practices and student learning outcomes.

Teaching at the Institute is guided by the Teaching and Learning Plan, which establishes a structured framework for course design, pedagogical approaches, assessment, and continuous improvement. Academic staff apply a range of evidence-based teaching strategies, including active learning, case-based learning, collaborative learning, and problem-solving approaches, to support diverse learning needs and enhance student engagement.

Academic staff are responsible for delivering subject content, facilitating learning activities, assessing student performance, and providing timely and constructive feedback. They are also required to uphold academic integrity, ensure ethical use of technology (including AI), and maintain inclusive and accessible learning environments for all students.

The Institute supports academic staff through structured professional development aligned with the Academic Freedom and Scholarly Activity Policy and Procedure and the Human Resource Management Policy and Procedure. Ongoing development activities are designed to enhance teaching capability, promote innovation in pedagogy, and ensure alignment with contemporary academic and industry practices.

Academic quality and staff performance are monitored through a robust governance framework. The Academic Board oversees academic standards, course delivery, and teaching quality, while the Teaching and Learning Committee monitors teaching effectiveness, student feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This multi-layered approach ensures that academic staff are supported, accountable, and continuously improving, thereby maintaining the integrity, quality, and relevance of the Institute’s educational offerings.
